• Litl' different morning...

With the cooler than normal "May" weather forecasted w/reasonable wind, combined with a road test for the X, after fixing some recent engine codes, I traveled south a couple hrs to test my luck @ Stick Marsh/Farm Pond. The wind started off more than expected around 8-9 mph, but decided to go w/trolling anyways & wasn't long before a rod bent & hard, yep a 5# largemouth that would set the theme for the morning. Ended up catching 8 more in that 2#-5# range, without a doubt best bait, all but 1 on a bright white 3" curly tail grub combo'd w/beetle spinner. However, this was not the only bite, 4 specks came to the boat=slow w/bright side of 2 went 14"....the Jem of the morning & reason for title was a 6# 4oz. Tilapia caught foul hooked in the dorsal fin. Was hard to identify swinging around both sides of 10 poles & 20 minute battle. Threw it back after a pic & started thinking what the state record was, well it's safe @ 9.6# & Florida's a world record as well....Packed it in @ 1pm & though about hitting a lake on the way back, but that long gravel road meant & boat & vehicle wash was due upon returning home, threw the 4 specks in the St. johns @ middle river...Even when the specks don't cooperate, that place always makes for a good trip...tight lines
