I recently got the Yamaha it’s 20 hour service. That morning I managed to catch the fender on the gate pole and.....well got myself a new project. Couple of them actually.
Went this morning and cruised around the lake from 7-10 am. Caught a bunch of little fish for some reason. She asked me to keep a few bigger ones for her to practice on, and so I came home with five.
Still learning but she is getting better.
Yeah I was sorely disappointed, too. Plump and dumb and ready for the taking. Stupid gator. This man spotted me fishing, and paddled hard so he could catch up and speak at me. Then he paddled hard to get in front of me. That was when he stopped paddling and decided to make a cast. So me, the boat and all ten lures had to make an abrupt course change to avoid what would have been a horrible disaster.....for him. Highly intelligent individual here.
Love my planer boards.
Six rods out the back and four out the front. Most fish hit the planer boards, but the spider rods had some action as well. The fish hit every jig but one, with no color patterns discernible. They went for my hand made jigs pretty well. Spinner blade - no blade - no patterns. I am thinking reaction bites.
Got my new mold but haven’t cast any yet. Do It Freestyle jigs in the smaller size version. I ordered a selection of hooks in the various sizes stated. I suspect there will be a jig weight that I will prefer and hook style as well.
Any suggestions on the hooks ?
I also been adding spinner blades to the hooks on the other jig heads, the ones I bought. I found that a Drop Shot Swivel works perfectly, and extends the blade back a little further than a regular swivel. It also lays flatter. Check it out for yourself. I also ordered some larger size French Blades to test. Of course propeller blades coming, too.
Well she is done with the fish now. Gotta go. Making seus vide fillet mignon for friends.
