• A Story About The Lake Norman Social

I'm from North Carolina and the North Carolina forum was having the Lake Norman social in a few weeks.

I am a boat less member for right now and new to Crappie.com. This was my first social and I was looking forward to meeting some of the nice folks that I had been talking with on some of the threads.

I asked if anyone had an open seat that I could fish with. I received an invite from a very nice man to fish with him by the handle of Hunter. We conversed by email for 2 weeks before the social to get a game plan to attack the crappie at a lake that he had never been to and I have not fished in over 20 yrs.

Then the week before the social he emailed me that he had to cancel due to a personal matter. He really felt bad about letting me down. I totally understood he was upset so I told him I would be fine and he did not let me down although I was heart broken. I think that's only human, but I hoped all was well with his personal issue and wished him well and prayers.

So then I set out to find another open seat. Not knowing he had already asked for someone to try and find me one.

I was able to get that open seat with the help of Country Boy NC and Red. See they were going to team up and fish together. Then when they heard I lost my seat they decided to split up and take 2 boats and Red gave me a call to invite me on his boat.

I really had a great time with Red and his nephew although fishing was tough that day. I also had a great time at the fish fry after the fishing and met some really super nice people. I want to thanks Country Boy NC and Red for working hard to find me a seat and making me feel like I was part of the group.

You don't find folks like this very often, and so I wanted to write this to say thank you. I hope to get my boat and vehicle in working order soon and head out to more socials. Like Red and Country Boy NC if I have an open seat, I will share it with someone in need and try to show them as good a time as they did for me.

    Thank you for listening.

Great story. I have made many new friends through Crappie.com. These socials are a great idea and the people I have met while attending them are top notch. I am sorry I can't make the one this weekend on High Rock. If anyone has had second thoughts about attending these socials you should reconsider. It's not a contest or a tournament. Just a group of crappie fisherman and their families coming together to enjoy a day with friends and to make new ones. Thanks for sharing this with us.

crappie.com website and members are the best. My boat broke down right before crappie camp in August and two guys from the site let me ride with them for two days. Made some great friends and had great time.
