• Burns opening morning

Well another year, another tale! Well me and my fishing buddy Todd made our annual tradition of the burns opener Saturday morning. Well I was running the trail that is marked in not one but TWO different gps systems when I don't know what possessed me to go OFF TRACK and try to jump a mud flat! Todd said he had always heard of people in such shock that they couldn't talk but never had it happen to him UNTIL TODAY! Well good news is the motor ran great and pushed us WAY UP on the mud flat! About 75 FEET! Bad news is we spent the next 2 1/2 hours inching the boat back to water! Did have 2 different boats stop and try to assist us but there was nothing they could do, water was too shallow! Oh did I mention that we were out of the boat and physically pushing / pulling & digging the boat out?! Todd is 6'5" and at one point he was sunk so far in the mud that I was 2 foot taller than him and I was sunk some in the mud too! Well we finally managed to dig out enough mud (with a paddle!) That we were able to get it to inch forward! Talked to several boats that went by and said there was NO GRASS AND NO FISH! And the water was salty! So we decided we would do better fishing at mom and dad's pond FROM THE BANK! Marty go ahead and get the ticket book out because there are no sacs in their pond - YET! Last picture is some huge bream dad and I caught yesterday afternoon.
