I took a chance and made a trip today before the rain showed up. Launched at 11 and pulled off in the rain at 1 pm. Air temperature was 41, water temp was 49. Rain wasn't supposed to come in until mid afternoon so that shortened my trip by quite a bit. Wind wasn't bad to start but soon picked up ahead of the front coming through. Too strong to stay on the few schools I found as usual.
I ended up with 4 crappie, 2 about 8" and 2 about 11" or so. All came on the white tailed stinger, trolled VERY slowly down deep on an 1/8oz. head.
If this turns out to be my last trip of the season, at least I can go through the winter knowing I didn't end it with a skunk in the boat. I still have hopes of getting in another trip or 2 but I'm now limited to weekends only, unless I decide to play hooky from work.
