• My first cast (ICAST 2012).

My fist cast, oh, I mean my first ICAST.

ICAST is an industry conference for those in the fishing business. It's not a fishing show for the general public. At ICAST, journalists and writers get to meet the leading manufacturers in the fishing industry to see whats new.

Manufacturers showcase their new and updated products here. Writers get to see, touch and feel all the new fishing toys. And since it seems I qualify as a writer now, I've been invited, and I'm loving every minute of it. C'mon, everyone loves new toys!

I got to use the Press Room, free coffee to wake up with, yeah!

For instance, I stopped by the TTI Blakemore group booth and spoke with TJ Stallings. He snuck me a pre-production version of a new product they will be offering very soon. It's called a Buffet Rig. No not a Jimmy Buffet rig, a rig that holds two servings of the famous Road Runner Jigs.

How cool is that. Pictured here with the TTI Blakemore Reality Shad.

I've got to get out there and fish with this set up. I suppose it's kinda like the controversial Alabama rig without the controversy. It's simply two jigs on one rig. And it's kinda cool that you only have to tie one knot to your line and you still have two jigs out there.

Two lures in one. Way to go TJ, great idea. They'll be available this coming August. Lucky me, I get to try one now! I'll let you know on the forum how it does, but with two Road Runners hanging on it I already know what the result will be.

More stories from ICAST coming soon (and a Jimmy Houston story too).

That Buffet, really sounds like a Crappie Buffet. And billbob, the Jimmy Houston story will be out real soon. I think you'll like it.

Were it not for Blakemore Roadrunners, I think my total catch of Crappie (over the last 30+yrs) would only be about HALF of what it is, so far !! IMHO ... if you don't have Roadrunners in your tackle arsenal, you're gonna need some serious LUCK at times !!
The only times I've ever limited out on Crappie, one pole casting ... a Roadrunner was on the line !

That "Buffet Rig" looks interesting ... and I'll have to look into the Reality Shad, when it comes on the market.

      Good job, Berkley & T.J. !!
