The "bite window" rule .
For years I have told friends and others about this simple but yet very effective way to secure crappie .
Many times in the winter months and most assuredly more so than some of the other seasons crappie seem to have a "bite window " as I refer to it . They seem to go bananas for just a short period of time very early and very late in the day on the feed bag .
I have tried over the years to make sense out of it and how it can be so terribly good and minutes or even seconds later totally done . I think its a matter of them going on the hunt and then coming back from said hunt and being in the mode to consume prey .
I have even noticed it is directional and goes the opposite way in the afternoon that it does in the morning . They can even be followed at times to ensure just a few more good solid bites as they travel .
This is also no willy nilly tip and occurs at lots of lakes in lots of areas in north Texas and I know for sure it is likely the same on many other lakes .
One thing for certain is that when it occurs the bites are really good thumps and often time have some sizeable fish in the crowd . So remember this when you see fish on the graph and or know fish are under you on a brush pile and they wont budge no matter what you offer . At some few moments in time and often around 7 am in the morning in the winter ,you might get really lucky and the fish not so much if your jig is in the water at the right time .
thus creating A Magnificently Unlucky 7 in the basket before they and you say its over .
KABOOM is the word yawl
p.s. the little white Crème mini tail was a color and style they liked
