I needed to set up my gear for next weeks Crappie Masters National Championship on Grenada. I didn’t see a break in this weather so I decided to get out today by myself. A big part of our tactic next week will involve Off Shore planer boards.
I got out at sunrise and headed to a main lake drop that has produced in the past. My trolling passes ended up producing a pair of nice blue cats and 7-8 drums from 3 pounds to 20 pounds. The 20 pounder is still wearing a Geezer Clown Pico due to not having a net big enough to get it in the boat to remove the crank. It broke off on the last of several attempts to grip the hooks with pliers.
I finally found a pattern that produced better crappie than I’ve been catching. Even with the extreme dry weather, high temps, and little current, the crappie seem to be easing into their fall haunts.
