My wife is not a morning person. Usually I get up this time of year around 2:30 to 3:00 am to fish. She won't do it unless she believes it will be worth it. I have been waiting for the bite this spring to be getting better and the weather to be a little better for her and today's timing seemed like it would be right.[emoji106]
So this morning she woke up a little after 3am, got in the truck and rode with me to a pond I have been wanting to take her to for a while. It has a really cool boat ride there and really nice fish.
We were fishing 5am and had caught around 20 fish by 7:30. I always tell her the best fishing happens early but she just can't get up. I think today she agreed.
We had a great time. The sun was shining and it warmed up from low 40's to 60 or so fairly quickly. We released all the females which still had their eggs. Kept a few males for supper also. Water temp was up to 55 degrees this week.
Went to a nearby pond at 7:30 to see if we could manage some more males for the fryer but only caught 2 females. However we managed some Pumpkinseeds to add to the meal. Great morning and I am glad she came out on such a nice day.
Most fish measured 14 inches. With a couple smaller ones here and there. Here are a few pics.
