I went 45 minutes west in the am and about the same east in the pm . Both lakes had a similar non bite program going on . I want to think the recent cold snap slowed them up and it always amazes me when I hit spots that far apart that have nothing in common other than crappie and find the same or very similar situation .
I didn't get skunked at either lake but I struggled to ketch fish and the total number of keepers I managed between the 2 visits would have made for a fair dinner as long as we had plenty of side dishes
All kidding around aside it was very tough to get bit and some of the bites were very light . I probably missed more than I hooked and then one would come along and about take the rod from your hand …..and some of those didn't get hooked either !
My largest black crappie was just bream pecking like a perch at the first lake and my largest white crappie at the pm lake just gave it a light tick .
I dropped several colors and bait styles and found about the same results with whatever I put down there . I was with SK and EZ my second stop and a fella we met out there as well . I was the lone ranger on lake one all by myself in the cccold .
Not sure to this day what rives these silly critters and for sure when I think I got em cornered real good they seem to run off .
Hope to get again out soon ...stay tuned and have a great day
BTW …..its Valentines Day and you best not forget that if you want to go ketch a fish any time soon …..
