Since the meeting at High Rock was cancelled I decided to go closer to home knowing I had yard work and other stuff needing work around the house. I headed out early, wanted to be there when they opened at 7 am. First to launch, Yes! Super pumped I just knew it was going to be a good day. Pretty calm but still dark. The thing I like best about Lucas is the beautiful sunrise you can see as your paddling out on the lake. This morning it was to dark to see well. Times changing for sure. I get to my favorite spot at the bridge and tie off to a column. Pull my fish finder from my bag and hook it up. I see what it shows me quickly before turning off. Seems somebody forgot to charge it... I decide to just go with what I know about the area and fish near bottom. Hmm, still dark think I’m gonna try my new bobby garland twilight baits. Thinking that Mo’ Glo should work in this low light. I always use sauce on my plastics and picked SlabSauce this morning.
Yup they work. Notice how that fish is barely hooked!
Wow, fish are biting this morning. I like it.
Hated seeing that fish with hook near its eye.
Very peaceful morning and pretty calm. I noticed some deer or so I thought on the bank. It was hard to tell since they were in the woods but I kept looking. Before long one was in the water and swimming across. Now I’m thinking Yes something to post in most unusual thing seen on water thread!
The photos just don’t do it justice as I was much closer then what the phone photo shows. Thought about paddling over for better photo but just enjoyed the moment instead. My dad and I came across some years back and went up closer to them and watched. Not bad swimmers actually. Next I have a heron come flying under bridge and land on bridge column. Sort of startled me. He must have known I was trying to take picture it walked to backside of column.
Back to fishing. Back to catching. Next group of fish I even remember to pose for BnM contest photos....lol.
Seems the fishing is pretty good. Almost every cast I get a hit!
Nothing of any size size but it was an absolute blast because it was fast and fun. Like I said almost every cast I was getting hit. I didn’t keep up with the count and I didn’t keep any of them. The wind started picking up and made control of the kayak crazy. One minute blowing to the left then next to the right. Crazy when your anchored. Anyway I left them biting and enjoyed some scenery on the paddle back, enjoy.
