Literally! I've never been this excited returning from a fishing trip as I was
this trip to Rend. My wife and I go in May and again in October with Nick Shafer
from Crappie Predator Guide Service. We have never caught fish like we did on
Wednesday (24Oct). We limited out and I must say that this is the first time that
my wife and I outfished the guide, strictly by numbers. That's because Nick was
busy getting our fish off the jigs if we needed help and getting us back down in
the water for more action. Just for laughs, we got out on the water at about 07:30
and began fishing at about 07:40 +/- a minute or two. We were done fishing at
08:58 with our 30 overs and 45 unders and back on dry land at 09:14. We had caught
in excess of 125 fish, but had to throw back 25-30 overs and a bunch of less than 9.5inch
fish. I've been fishing Rend for only the 5th year but I am amazed at the number of
crappie being caught and what the future holds for this great fishery. If you want some
good numbers and a few over 12 inches you best get down there quickly, before the
weather shuts 'em down!
