Went out to my local lake with 6 dozen minnows. It has a decent population of black crappie. Knew I wanted to look for post spawn fish but also wanted to find a wind break with the 8mph constant wind. Fished a spot that met my needs and his. Caught 39 crappie and 1 small bream. Kept 21 to fill his request. His first time targeting crappie and spider rigging.
That fried fish looks extremely tasty. Would you care to share the recipe? I was cruising the internet and that picture is what prompted me to join Crappie.com, lol.
Recipe was nothing. Dipped in a bowl of eggs that were stirred up. Then just covered in the powder which was pancake mix with some salt and cayenne pepper added. Fried in oil at 375 degrees. Oil was about 2in deep. Fish are said to be done when they float but let cook little longer to brown more for flavor. Was easy to put together so feel free to add more spice to your liking. Used regular tarter sauce as a dip to eat.
