• Well I did it. I fell in with the Ipilot running.

I was pulling cranks today on Grenada and hooked into a giant Buffalo. It took a good 5-10 minutes to get him to the boat with 90 feet of line out using a 10ft Pinnacle Limit rod (I can't speak highly enough on that thing). As he got to the boat I went to net him and he had one last run in him and knocked the net out of my hand. As I went for the net I fell over the side of the boat but luckily I didn't go far and was able to grab the side of the boat before it got away from me. I don't usually wear my remote around my neck as it just gets in the way but needless to say I'll always have it on me now. And to top it all off I still landed the fish and brought home a few good crappie too!

Wow through all of that and you didn't lose your pole and managed to land the fish. An experience that soon won't be forgotten!

Glad you made it out OK. We lost one of our members on here a few years back for exactly that. Surprised they have not came out with some kind of safety to not let the motor run outside so many feet of remote. He had his still clinched in hand when they found him.

Whether its a Minn-Kota or Motor Guide when you fall out of boat and try stop it with remote -
forget it - it is not going to work - only good for about 20ft
      - The gentlemen Huntinslabs referred to
was pretty good fisherman - went fishing by himself - no life jacket - was in winter time, he was
dressed for cold weather - which weighed him down faster. (was in above average physical condition) Its not worth it not to have life jacket on especially if by yourself.

Yikes that is a good thing you had the remote on your neck. I assume no one else was in the boat when you went overboard. I never even thought about this happening. I am looking to get a Terrova and now I will make sure I don't run into the same issue.
