• Cotaco Creek "Today was the one"

Today was way overdue, I haven't been on the water since 26 Dec 2016...way too long. It was a beautiful, but windy day following last nights storms. Launched at Triana (Indian Creek) at 0630. Headed to Cotaco Creek. Water temp was 60 degrees. Water was like chocolate milk. No current, but windy. Fished until 1030.

Catch: 1 black Crappie that weighed exactly 1lb...didn't measure him. Gave him to a bank fisherman. Caught 1 bass that was about 10 inches. Caught one white stripe. On the way back to Triana, I fished a bit in Indian Creek and caught 1 black Crappie that was 9 inches. So, today was the day of "one". One crappie each in two different creeks, one bass, and one white stripe. Of note the crappie aren't darkening up yet. Today's catch was consistent with some of the other reports with slim catches recently.

Bait: Everything! Caught the one crappie in Cotaco Creek on a BG Mayfly. And, the one in Indian Creek on BG Monkey Milk. Jig was 1/24oz plain lead head with a #2 hook.

Also, there was a 200 boat tournament out of Decatur today. At least one of the tournament fisherman said it was 200 boats? They were everywhere flying up and down the river and in the creeks (lack of etiquette for sure).

Lastly, any day on the water is a good day. So, today was a good day.

I'm glad to hear you got out. Cabin fever eats me up, and two fish sounds like relief to me. Thanks for bringing us along.
