Boy Oh Boy Temps have finally started to drop from the 90 degree days and I have gotten out to single pole for the first time during the daylight since summer. Note: (Still may do another night trip.) Water temps on Tellico have dropped down to 72 degrees and I was lucky enough to find fish in the usual spots for this time of year. For the past few years now I have put the month down as the waypoint name so I could remember when fish have been caught at that location. I just went back and fished the areas on my unit that said October and today caught my limit at those previous spots. I must admit I had one new location today that produced well for the first time. I had dropped a crappie condo on a long creek channel point back in the winter at a 15ft depth and this is where I caught most of my fish today. I was delighted to catch 20+ crappie from this location and it made me feel it was well worth the effort to place it there. The spot was quickly renamed to OCT on the list of waypoints within my Humminbird unit. Hopefully this condo will produce every October from here on out but its not guaranteed as I did fish a number of OCT waypoints today that were bust. In all 32 crappie were brought on board in the making of a limit so perhaps this may be a good system for me to continue in the future.
