We had to wait out a passing rain cloud before we could launch the boat but we managed to squeeze in an hour and a half of fishing tonight. There was very little boat traffic for a Fri which made for good fishing.
My daughter fished a jig under a float and caught several crappie on her own. My wife used the same rig and caught a couple keepers and several dinks. I casted a jig with crappie nibbles. Between all of us we caught around 30 crappie, with 10 being keepers, before darkness and the skeeters caused us to call it a night. I also caught another catfish. My son had a ball holding it and wanted his picture taken with it. His sister nicknamed him Bubba on the day he was born and that's where I came up with my screen name, BubbaThump. I love my kids!!
The water was a beautiful green color and around 84 deg where we were fishing. The fish were holding in 6-10 ft of water and most fish were solidly hooked in the roof of the mouth. Up until tonight I have been experiencing a very light bite. With the full moon and storm front approaching the fish seemed a lot more aggressive.
I wanted to make it a point tonight to thank the owners of this site and show my support. I really enjoy reading everyone's posts and seeing the pictures. I've posted some on here about our S.N.A. Krappie Masters club and I feel like I should show some appreciation for letting us use this site as a form of communication with our members. I'm sporting a Crappie.com sticker on my boat for some advertisement and thought I might share a pic.
Thank you to Slab, D, CrappiePappy, and everyone else who run this site. I've made some friends and had a really good time posting my fishing adventures.
Thanks for reading about my blessed evening with my family. I cant wait to feel that thump again!!
