This time last year SteveJ and I were filling the ironing board regularly at Okatibbee. This summer has been tough. A thermocline has set up with the water temps in the upper 80s, mostly in the deeper waters along the dam. The thermocline is from 10 to 12 ft. I made one pass through there yesterday without a bite. I moved up the lake to where the depth was 10 to 12 ft and started seeing a lot more shad. I wound up keeping 23 good eaters, nothing big but all from 11 inch to 13 inch fish. Most were caught on my 4 push poles with the 3oz weights. I was running the crankbaits near the bottom.
