Due to many things getting in between us, My Gdaughter and I haven't fished together in quite some time. One of my best fishin buddies, I have missed this time. Last evening Camryn came to spend the night with us and the boat was already connected and ready to go. Back to Crescent City for a short trip, we got moving about 5:30 and found the lake calm and free from traffic. Poked around a couple of places and finally worked our way back to where Ernie and I had done so well back on the Fourth. While starting out a bit slow, Cam was the one to get the Skunk out of the boat this day. We never got the numbers that were there 3 weeks ago but the day was great all the same.
And we weren't alone. I'm sure it was because Camryn was along. For most of the morning we had a young, but not a baby, Manatee that kept rising right alongside the boat. A white patch between the eyes got the name "Streak" attached to our friend. Bumped with the TM a couple of times it was oblivious to us. At 11 years old she enjoyed the company with this manatee in a big way.
So all in all we had about a dozen Crappie go through the boat, along with a LMB that would go about a pound and a half. No issues with gear or techniques we used today, She makes this Grandfather proud the way She picks up the things I try to teach her. Here's hoping this stays this way when the teen years arrive. I couldn't have asked for a better day or better company, and headed home about 10:00 with a snack and needed cold drink along the way. A few pics below, and thanks again for visiting with us and enjoying our trip with us today........Skeet
And She thinks we're just fishin...........
