• Fishing Fireworks (Santee)

I've never seen more pleasure boaters then what was on the water this Independence Day weekend. The lake was rocking and rolling from all the boat wakes, but the fish were biting pretty good anyways. I capped off Friday's successful trip, with fine days on both Saturday alone, and a rare Sunday trip with my brother. All fish were caught off brush piles using both jigs and minnows with a single long pole. The action was never fast and furious, but it was steady as long as you covered a lot of water, hitting as many brush piles as possible while targeting the actively feeding fish. I'm a little sore this morning from getting beat up from all the bouncing around due to the boat wakes, and will welcome a two week break from fishing as we head up to Hickory Knob State park on Clark's Hill reservoir for a family reunion next weekend. No fishing while there, a little golf and family time is on the agenda. I hope all are enjoying this Independence Day weekend even though it is quite hot out. God Bless America!!
