Well, I guess I could give my two cents on the great spring camp, but everyone has already said it well enough. Thanks to all who helped and those who attended in making it another great event. I will admit I was apprehensive about the outcome of the charity raffle, but it turned out fine. I guess I'll always be one to stress out over the details
.
Thank goodness the weatherman was wrong again as the rain/storms forecast for Friday eve. and Saturday never really developed. The wind was a bit, but not so bad up at the north end of the pond where the trees that held the fish were located. Although the bite was a bit slow and it took some work to get the fish out of the brush, it seems like everyone had a great time and some respectable fish were brought to the weigh in. Many people tried many tactics, but it all seemed to end up going back to live minnows under a slip bobber to bring them in the boat.
As always, we had way too much really good food both at "Liars Club" on Friday eve. and on Saturday. Thanks to all that contributed!
2016 MICDC camp held at Sandy Beach Campground operated by Newaygo County Parks. In my book it's a great campground and they have new renovations on a five year plan that's going to make it even better! Thanks Sandy Beach!
Liars Club on Friday eve. in front of two of the cabins that were rented by members for the event. We got acquainted, reacquainted, and took care of some business, but mostly just had a relaxing time.
Weigh in on Saturday was the heaviest fish for each person. There were five or six fish weighed, but in the end the top three were Kevin (Skillett007) with a 1 lb. 2 oz. fish, Tim (Flytier) with an 11 oz. fish, and Wanda (Steelguys wife) with a 10 oz. fish. Congrats to all!
The charity raffle was held to support Camp Newaygo, a non-profit youth camp that serves the area. Cakelady hosted the raffle, but the kids did the ticket drawing. $527 was collected. There was also a kids game that for some reason I missed getting picture of. Thanks to Ed (Slab), and Off Shore Tackle for some great prizes that everyone could enjoy at the grab bag table.
Here's the group from this event. No, I'm not going to name them all...
P.S. Rich, her name was Dixie.
