• Fishing with David Baynard and Ron Presley.

About a month ago after the Alabama River Crappie Masters I was able to spend time with David Baynard (Driftmaster.com), and Ron Presley (Examiner.com). What a couple of great guys.

Here's Ron with a nice one.

David landed a double, in fact it was a double double for the boat. Check out the video:

I also was able to go to Alabama Nature Center (AlabamaWildlife.org). Now if you're ever in the neighborhood, this is a pretty cool place to visit, particularly if you have kids. It has many miles of walking trails, plus it has what they call a NaturePlex. There's a bee hive in the NaturePlex, what the heck is with that. I could not believe it, a live bee hive in full view, check it out:

There's a tube that allows them to get to the outside so it's a real living hive (even produces honey). How cool is that. I never would have thought this was possible inside a building behind glass like that, but there it was. Here's one case where you don't want to break the glass, even if there is a fire! lol

I learned something else while I was there. I learned why Skunks and Possums are so stupid, while Raccoons and Otters are so smart. It's all in the size of their brains, and readily apparent when you look at their skull size. Another neat little display they had there.

They had the skulls and skins of River Otter, Possum, Raccoon, Beaver, Wolf, Coyote, Possum, Dear, and many more. I'm telling you, if you have children, and even if you don't, it's well worth the trip.

They have summer camps there as well. I could not believe how excited I got when they did the lake side discovery session. I got sucked into it. The kids were netting all sorts of "who knows what" in the water and we were all examining it. I'm serious, it bought out the kid in me. It explains why I like to Crappie fish. When you Crappie fish, you really never know what you're going to get. You all know, we catch Bass, Catfish, Gar, Brim, and even Walleye, Pickerel and Turtles. If you've seen some of my stories on here, there's pictorial evidence of all of this. Heck, once I even caught a Paddle Fish on Kentucky Lake.

Anyway, to end my little story, here's a picture of the owner of Driftmaster Rod Holders, David Baynard with a nice Crappie, caught on a Roadrunner.

Thank you all for reading my story and have a great day. Fish on!

Funny thing is, everyone on the boat was catching fish except me. I bring my one fish "Slab Limit" with, where ever I go. Crappie love me! lol
