After a much needed restful night, we headed back to Homestead. Then we cut across the Tamiami trail, and saw the smallest Post Office in the USA.
A canal runs right along this route and I stopped and fished 2-3 spots and caught my first Oscar. Thanks to CDC member SEARAY, for bringing my attention to these fun to catch fish. They remind me of the fight similar to the smallmouth bass. I tried to catch some on topwater, all they would do is take a swipe at it, finally caught them on a Roostertail type lure. Caught close to a dozen, had my fun and we continued our way to Bonita Springs for the night. Also snapped a photo of a not too familiar road sign!
The next morning we headed to Sanibel Island. Stopped at the fishing pier. Nothing much happening, guys said, the day before they were catching Black Tipped sharks.
Many beautiful, expensive homes, we also stopped at the "Ding Darling Wildlife Refuge Building" for a few minutes. ( Google it).
If you want to see the water after getting on the island, your best bet is to park at one of the beach areas.
After a nice, no traffic drive, we decided to get on I 75 and head back to Lakeland.
Always nice to go on vacation, always good to come home.
Spent a little time on our lani yesterday, getting ready to chase those Lakeland Crappies!
Hope you enjoyed,
