Friday I took the day off and Chris and I battled the east wind and managed to catch a dozen good crappie. Mostly male crappie with one smaller female mixed in. Water Temps were around 70. We didn't really lock in a pattern as it was a struggle most of the day. Crappie were caught off of cypress trees in 6-8 FOW. My guess is the spawn is just about wrapping up around here. The one females eggs looked pretty good.
Jacob was a little sore at me for not taking him with me. So Chris and I took Jacob and one of his sons, Ashton for some brim action. We are planing to set some limb lines to catch some big flatgeads next weekend and needed some bait. I took them out to a couple of my honey holes and we loaded the livewell. We kept 33 big bluegill for flathead bait and also found 5 big reader over 10". One was right at 11"! I didn't heave the heart to put them on a 9/0 hook, so I fileted them. We had a blast today. My soul feels refreshed. Till next time my friend!
