I was invited to attend the Crappie Masters Tournament "Media Day" event being held here in Deland Florida on the St. Johns River. Of course I jumped at the opportunity. Billbob had left the day before but he was still there in spirit (see photo above)! I fished with Brad Meyer and Dave Pfoutz and we killed them!
We fished the river, moving from spot to spot at varying depths, spider rigging with double rigs tipped with minnows. The bite was slow but steady. We lost some very nice fish as well.
Brad and Dave were tons of fun, we had a great time. Thank you both so much for getting us on the fish.
Don Collins and Steve Chapman (of
Fishing Florida Radio) were fishing nearby and took first place catching a 1lb 9oz Crappie.
Billbob attended the weigh in too. He seemed to really enjoy himself there.
We placed second with this Crappie Weighing 1lb 6.4oz
Brad's boat sported some real nice individually mounted trolling rod holders I thought I'd mention. Very sturdy, and high quality for sure. Check them out at
Grizzly Jigs.
I'll certainly be at the weigh in on Saturday afternoon at
Ed Stone Park to see what all is bought in.
