• Todd Huckabee Goes Fishing - by Nic Norton

After a long day on the water guiding clients to boatloads of nice Lake Eufaula crappie, most would assume this highly sought-out crappie pro would kick his feet up and relax. Between running a full time guide service, fishing tournaments and operating a store and restaurant in Crowder, Oklahoma, Huckabee certainly earns that down time. However, like most of us after a long day of work, he would rather go fishing.

“I never get tired of it,” says Huckabee. “Every day is a little different – the water is changing temperature or depth, the moon phase affects fish movements, weather patterns change the way crappie feed – I love it all.”
So, while many guides relish their relaxation time and take up other hobbies, it is no wonder that Todd returns to his roots of fishing from the bank. In the spring while crappie are spawning, he often slips down to a sheltered cove to take advantage of the big females that move up to scatter their eggs on freshly prepared beds. “The smaller males will stay in the shallow water and prepare their beds during the day, but after dark is when the big females move up to spawn.”
In this video, Huckabee demonstrates the newest weapon in his arsenal that will help anyone to catch more fish when the lights go down in the evening.
