Well, I was dressed for the weather, 48 degrees in the morning. Ya see, my wife and I are now weather acclimated wimps! Anything under 70 degrees, oh well you know what I'm sayin!
First thing I noticed was water temps were down to 68-69 degrees.
I started spider rigging, jigs tipped with minners, wind came up a bit, but boat control was manageable. Caught 5 in the first hour, was having a great day and just enjoying everything about it.
If I could find deep water, I usually would catch one or two. Seems that anything over .4 mph and I wouldn't get bit, the wind was gusting from time to time, so I started looking for more protected areas.
I had 8 in the boat when my friend Yelim sent me a text, he was fishing in another area nearby. Things had slowed down, and I just came into an area where there was deep water and quite a few humps. Then BINGO, it was Crappie Time! I would hit this one spot with the deepest water, and sometimes 2 on at a time. I'm an old man, but when the bite like this happens, there are NO words to explain! I can't even imagine the feelings you guys get, when you catch 50-60 or more in one outing!
Took 10 home and released over 10 more.
