Not much to report but I figured I'd post a report from Crescent Lake for 2 reasons:
#1 is because I know a few GA folks planning on going to Crescent real soon and.....
#2 is because I might win some free stuff
Just got back from 2 long, hard, tough days on Crescent. We caught a total of 12-15 fish. Our largest 2 was a 1.65 and a 1.41 with 2 more in the 1 lb range. The rest were "Tater Chips". My guess is the fish migrate into Crescent from the St. Johns River and the water is still too warm for the migration to take place. That's the only explanation I have. The water temp was in the high 60's...68-69 degrees...The fish are usually on the north end of the lake by now. We fished all the way from Dunns Creek to Bear Island on Friday and from Dunns Creek to the canal that goes into Dead Lake on Saturday. The bite was few and far between, sometimes going 2-3 hours without a bite, We pulled jigs and even pulled a couple of crankbaits trying to entice the fish but I just don't believe there were any fish there to bite anything. Did not mark very many fish at all, but that isn't unusual in such a shallow lake. The fish that did bite came off of dark colors with chartreuse tails and Pumpkinseed. One of the bigger fish came from just north of Bear Island and the other 2 came from the Dead Lake area. We fought wind on Friday with gusts near 20 mph and a mixture of wind, rain, clouds and sunshine with blue bird skies on Saturday. Maybe some cold weather will move in and get these fish back on schedule soon.
