The Oklahoma Fall Crappie Camp was held at Blue Bill Point on October 16 - 18 at Fort Gibson Lake in Eastern Oklahoma. Twenty two folks attended the event. IkenI (Floyd) organized a Friday night cookout with Hot Dogs, Brats and Oklahoma Hot Links. Woodworker42 and davebrown42 provided side dishes of baked beans, potato salad, saurkraut, chili and cheese. It was reported that one of our members ate 6 hot dogs, 1 Braut and 1 hot link and reportedly was not able to fish on Saturday.
Fishing was slooooow on Saturday, but the evening was lively at the Saturday night Fish Fry. Ranger09, Doug, Loy and Redge (Kirk) provide several bags of fresh Crappie, Loy cooked davebrown42's infamous Arkansas Hushpuppies and Woodworker42 's beans were combined with the remaining Award Winning Chili. (Tums were available on Saturday and Sunday). Everyone had a great time and a brief discussion was held about future camps. Winter Camp will be in February, 2016 and we are looking for a southern Oklahoma lake with cabins. FortGibsonBoy lost an expensive fish net presumably (according to him) trying to net the largest Crappie of his infamous fishing career.
All in all, the Oklahoma Fall Crappie Camp was a great experience with meeting new members, getting expert advice on sonar equipment and fishing techniques. A special thanks goes out to Hat55's wife Cindy for sending three dozen of her great cookies. Looking forward to Winter Camp in February, 2016 ..........FISH ON!
