The LCR (Little Creek Reservoir, Toano) park office is now staffed and reopened for business!
Consequently, boat rentals and daily launch passes are available once more.
With the exception of the shellcracker spawn, the panfish bite at has weakened steadily since
late winter. Two weeks ago, I finally gave up on the crappie and ring perch and switched species.
The DGIF biologists are happy with the walleye population, but I don't know how to catch them.
Instead, I decided to chase rock for a few trips. In 5 or 6 attempts, I've landed only 3...

This fish was a lifetime record for me, and apparently a new LCR lake record for striped bass! I'd
like to report that the rock fishing is good overall, but that doesn't seem to be the case. The
"regulars" haven't started chasing them yet and compared with last summer, there appears to
have been a sharp decline in the schools of baitfish.
