From fishing yesterday in a lake that is much bigger than my reservoir, but similar in depth the water temp was 62 degrees by the end if the day. So that had me thinking that the fish ought to be heading to the banks on my reservoir.
So around 11:00 my boy and I headed to my reservoir. I invited a friend of mine that lives close and he brought his 12 year old grandson that met us out there.
My thinking was correct for once!!! We started catching immediately just 2 feet out in the water from the bank or less. Started off catching em on a pony head and was wearing them out until I lost the only one I had brought. I grabbed the wrong tackle box!
So after loosing my ponyhead, broke out the "Old School"! The ole cork and minnow! Man I love to see that thing sink!!! Brings out the kid in me! My boy would start yelling wen the cork dunked!!!
We didn't fish long but left with 22 real nice fish! It was another GREAT DAY!!! By the way when fishing and you are the one catching and the others aren't.... This is what happens!!! Caught about 15 green carp as well!
The debris is poly pipe that farmers use to water the beans. It is a big reservoir with no trees or wind breakers on the prairie here in southeast arkansas. It is there to protect the levees from erosion and washing out. It works very well. But.... We tried tractor tires and that works even better. And it provides structure the fish can get around as well. There are trees on the south levee only. All the others are totally exposed.
