Fished Sinclair and kept 15. But that's not my story.

While fishing dropper rigs in Nancy Branch, a crappie hit the rod on my right. I laid the rod I had just put out down on the left side of the boat. Yep, fish hit it and I turned in time to see it disappear.

30 minutes later a fish hits another rod. I pull in the crappie, but it feels a lot heavier than the fish I see. I keep bring the rest of my rig in and see fishing line tangled around my weight. Sure enough, I pull in the rod/reel first and then the fish that is still on the hook.

I'm thinking I should have bought a lottery ticket on the way home with that kind of luck.

Done this before, but not when I hooked a fish but trolled by where I lost the rod and hot lucky and got hung up in the line and got my rod back. But, still lose at least one rod a year while long lining. Usually knock one in the water that I can't grab fast enough.
