It is with great honor and pleasure that I announce the winners of the 2014 Crappie.com JMMA Award. Although never an easy decision simply for the fact that we have such a fantastic group of members, the decision was unanimous. And yet again, for the reason that we
do have so many great members, we have two winners. A winner from behind the scenes (moderator crew) and a winner from the participating public.
So without further ado, the winners of the 2014 JMMA Crappie .com Man Of The year are:
Chaunc and Barnacle Bill.
Both members have been on Crappie.com since the “early days”.
On April 11
th 2004 the “All New” crappie.com forum format was born. And on April 15 2004, Chaunc joined and on April 18
th 2004 Barnacle Bill joined the new forum!
Even prior to the new format Chaunc was helping other fishermen using the old Matt Wright's forum format. Here are a couple of his posts I copied from my archives from 2003!

:Interesting that you mention clean hands. We usually go fishing before cleaning up for the day and generally do pretty well. BUT,when my in-laws are here, they insist on showering, doing the hair, using a gallon of cologne and so forth and no one catches anything. I know darn well it's all the stuff on their hands getting transferred to bait. I started in dogs years ago and one thing you never want to do when competing in an event that requires the dogs to use its nose (tracking or advanced obedience) is use scented deodorant or any type of cologne product. It will kill your dog's "nose". No reason to think that the same doesn't apply to fish. -Roberta
Okay, i'm coming clean here.......When ever i'm fishing with my buddies and they are wearing cologne, i suggest that we fish for quarters. any fish 10" and over gets paid a quarter. I collect my bait money back from them every time. i use cornhuskers hand lotion and it masks any scents on my hands and i often add scent to my bait. it works for me and you can take that to the bank....either one.

: Hasanyone used the braided spiderline on a spinning real how does itperform. Is it worth the cost?
There is a difference between SPIDERWIRE and SPIDERLINE. the line is a tough MONO based line. it has some stretch but is made tougher than regular mono. my buddy was using it while we were jig fishing 1/16oz twisters. i was using cabela's 4# clear. i lost 5 jigs to his 1. icaught more fish than he did but he kept getting his same jig back everytime he got hung up. SOOOOOO...... i spooled up one pole with the stuff. i may not catch as many fish with it, but i save a lot of money on jigs now. it does fish well tho. I still like the cabela'spro-line best. cheap and very effective for jigging lite jigs andlures.

: Wetip jigs with one sometimes. Doug uses them more than I do and he likes the new sparkle green ones, but also uses chart or white ones. I don't imagine they would work on a bare hook. - Roberta
I haven't had any success with them on a bare hook either, but they work really well on jigs for me. i even use them on those little black ants, for gills, instead of wax worms or maggots. green for crappies on twister tails and white for bluegills in my area.
Chaunc, betcha don't remember making those posts!
We received many glowing nominations recommending Chaunc, and I mean MANY. Additionally I personally have witnessed his “professionalism, humanitarianism and willingness to help others” (during a recent Crappie.com event in KY). Congrats Chaunc, you very well deserve this award.
Barnacle Bill, or as you were previously known as “IBFSHN”, or as prior to that, on the old Matt Wright's forum format, “Billy H.”, you very much so deserve the award as well. You have been helping steer the crappie.com ship fora very long time, through turbulent periods (remember the VA forumfiasco), and through all good times as well. I can't thank youenough Bill, your contributions here have helped make the site what it istoday. The membership is very appreciative of your insightful postsand moderation here. Congratulations Bill on receiving a verywell deserved award..
And for posterities sake, here's acouple posts BB made before the new forum format.

Red color fishing line is suppose to disappear in the first several feet of water. This is what Cabela's say about their red line. Also BPS has some similar.
If this is true then why do we use red lead head jigs and a
red lure or a combination of red. I have caught lots of crappie
using red, now I’m thinking they could be wrong about that.
But if they are correct i might as well use the unpainted jig
head. And another thing,Jerry Blake catches a lot of crappie
using the Rosy Red minnows. Now, does any of this make sense?.
Would like to hear from of you regarding this. Billy H.
