• Doodler road report..chapter one.

Finally found some time to lay down some words on Ed's and my trip down
    south.

The first leg of the trip I ran solo down to Merrilleville, IN where Sharon was to drop kick Ed and Abby on Wed. morn. I left Tue. evening at 5, and had an uneventful trip down, which is just what I wanted. Our connection was supposed to take place around 6:30 in the morning, and I didn't want to deal with morning traffic or driving the rig in the dark, thus the early departure. I was ready for some grub and a cold one (or two). Joe's Crab Shack looked like just the ticket.

A good night's rest, and I was up and ready at 5 am...oh yeah, the time changed...Okay so now it's 4 am. Ed says an hour and forty-five minutes from his place, but unfortunately that didn't figure in the never-ending road construction. They lost 40 minutes, but what-the-hey, I'm on vacation now.

The second leg of the journey put us at Arrowhead Lake Campground in Johnston City, IL on Wed. afternoon around 4 pm. We probably could have made it all the way to Lakeshore Campground on KY Lake, but opted to get off the road early, and get into camp early the next day, which looked like the best day weather-wise for most of the week. Ed and I were familiar with Arrowhead. This was our layover last trip too.

There's a story behind that tree that Ed is fishing off of, but that's for another day.

Thu. morning found us back on the road driving in rain, which was in the forecast for the morning. By the time we made Lakeside late morning, the weather was already starting to break.

With camp set and our bellies full, it was time to fish. Ed had some inside information on where and how to find them too. We managed to pull some nice fish out from a few different docks, which was especially fun for me to learn. We also boated some spider rigging. All in all, it was a beautiful day on the water

Ed got a text that dinner was at Whiskers place, so we decided to pull poles and head in for the night. How the night progressed is another story for another time..to be told by another. All I have to say is fruit jar. [emoji1]
