• Great week and great memories

    Guys I got to spend the entire week fishing with my best friend MY DAD, we've always fished together and I can still remember like it was yesterday some 35 years ago my dad picking me up from school early to go fishing.

    Now I'm in my mid 40's and he's in his mid 60's and he and I spent the entire week just us camping, fishing and just talking and having a cold beer while grilling out. No words can explain how much this week meant to me. We didn't limit out a single time but that's not what this week was about. Pops is older and I have to set the cooler next to the boat so he can climb in and out but there's nobody else I'd want to fish with.

    Last night as we were talking about the week he laughed and said "you've had your old man fishing hard this week" and it hit me. My Pops isn't as young as he use to be, I can remember the days when I was just a kid fishing with him and ready to go, thinking how long is this guy going to stay out here. Now I'm that guy not wanting to leave. So we fished this morning and called it a week. We only had 18 keepers this AM but they were the best fish of the week, 18 good fish.

      Fishing with Dad has always been the best for me also. Even the days we were skunked.

      Nothing like it! Looks from the pics that he had a good time, that's what's important now and you're correct about him getting older. I'm 45 now and my dad is 73. My dad can't stay with it all day anymore either and I quit whenever he says quit. Great post. Keep making memories. GTT

      Thank you guys, we had a great time, I guess I forgot to add we fished Enid, it's always been our favorite lake, it's about 20 minutes south of Sardis and 40 minutes north of Grenada so it doesn't get fished as hard as the other two, I believe in 4 days we cleaned about 100 crappie all over 12"
