Well I finally managed to get in some good size and #'s of crappie last Sunday. Can't say where out of respect for my buddy's fishing hole but man did I have a good time! We caught 48 that day! Brought dad with me Friday (with my buddy's permission) and we caught 12 sacs and 3 nice bass, not as many but we both had a blast! And I believe dad outfished me, but not by much! lol. I even caught a small racing crappie! Even had an otter come by and say hi! All in all, a great couple trips! Oh and I almost forgot, all the fish dad and I caught were caught on jigs I tied the night before, I am really proud of that part! lol
nothing like being out with your dad fishing and I say that with lot of jealousy as mine never fished or hunted or did anything recreationally. He worked and in his spare time he worked! LOL. So green with envy at this special time for you.
WTG and nice ot have a buddy who shares his fishing spot and good on you for not blabbing where it is.
Racing crappie is an endearing term I gave to the black nose or Magnolia crappie years ago due to the black racing stripe that runs up the nose and down the lower jaw of the crappie. One of my favorites to catch because they are less common.

My dad established a love of the outdoors in me at a very young age! We grew up with a pond in the back yard and we use to go fish in it all the time. I didn't even want to fish back then but loved to put the fish on the stringer for dad! I remember one particular evening when dad and I were fishing and we (he) had a stringer of about 6 or 8 nice 2 lb bass on it when he handed me another bass to put on. Well when I untied the stringer, the other bass decided they didn't want to be attached to the boat anymore and swam off! Dad never got mad and just told me to hold the stringer tighter next time! I may have been 8 years old at the time, I'm 51 now. Man thanks for bringer that memory back!
