fish from high wall question about nets
Still too cold up here in Minneapolis, but going over my equipment, I had a look at the long handled landing net I use fishing on walls along the Mississippi here, real clumsy! I see the drop nets they use on the piers in the ocean, and I wonder if anybody has any experience or advice about using them inland. The wall ranges from about 8' to places with rails to easily over 12'. I can swing most of the smaller channel cats, but the carp just plain get too big. BTW I also fish crappie and smallmouths in those places on much lighter line. One of those of any size absolutely needs a net of some kind.

My whole group of fishing buddies all have the crab/pier nets for fishing off the walls along the Miss. Academy used to have them real cheap, all you need to do is tie a rope to it with 3 anchor points and you are good to go. Ive lifted 20lb+ carp and flatheads with them without issue. And they are real nice for releasing and reviving fish.
