    Default winter time cat's


    never fish for cats in late fall or winter but have started trying to catch some. do yall have any pointers that mite help me out. the lake i fish in is 30 foot.
    avg. depth around the bank is 4 foot. where do i need to look for the cats at and what kind of bait? channels and blus in the lake. also there is very little structure in the lake. thanks for any help.

    Try deep and would say cover but you said there was'nt much. Don't forget Catfish do suspend at times.

    would noodles work in winter and how long would you make your string?

    i would make my noodles about 4 to 6 foot and put on a live bluegill or a big thread fin shad about 8 inches long ...but try diffrent depths and you will find out where they are

    I use jugs w/ 1 lb weight set on bottom 3 hooks set 18 in off bottom next 18 in higher and las 18 inches higher the 2nd bait with big shad if can find the if not goldfish and sometimes nightctrawlers work real well for me.

    Before my dad died, he and I would tie up a 100 hook trot line and as soon as the ice left the pond, we would put it out. He would check it twice a day and usually have 80 or 90 bull heads, or yellow cats every time he checked it. He got the biggest kick out of catching all those little catfish.
