We go to a good location on a drop off with stumps or pallet beds and feed em. I used to use sweet feed , but now use scraps from a feed mill. We sour the scrap feed and dump it in daily by the bucket fulls.

One of my favorite baits is Salted chicken livers. Buy the livers and some stock salt, from the feed store. Bury the livers in the stock salt until they get dried out, a week are two depends on the weather. They stay on a hook real well and the cats love it. You can box them and put a drop are two of anise oil on them. I also take garlic powder and dump a bunch on the livers let them set in the ice box a day are two then dry them in the salt, they work good too.

Best hook I've found for keeping chicken liver on. Even soft and bloody right out of the container.

    Mustad Double Live Bait Hook

I've found them at Gander Mountain too.

Think I'll go cat fishing today at a friends pond. I'm going to try some Hillshire Farm turkey Lit'l smokies on a straight hook. We shall see.

Get a package of boneless chicken and two packs of strawberrie/bannana coolaide. Cut the chicken into small chunks, paper towel dry, and add koolaide, stir well and refridge until tomorrow. That...and chicken livers if theyre fresh...not frozen.

As u can tell theres as many bait choices as catfishermen. All u need to do now is get you some baits and go fishing! It may take awhile for you to key in on the one that works best where u fish.If u meet someone that catfish's often where u fish it could get u ahead on the bait game.I got a friend in Arkansas that fish's in a very small bayou from the bank and all he does is use plain cheap hotdogs,,,but they dont go after hotdogs every where like the do at his location.Tight lines!Thumbs Up

as a kid we used beef heart, beef tongue, on hooks and (Ivory brand soap in fish box traps). I have been google-ing catfish bait recipes
this evening and of all the recipies I see, the most common ingredients are GARLIC,SALT,RED KOOL-AID,CHEDDAR CHEESE OR CHEESE POWDER from the kraft mac & cheese box, LIVER.....
So I figured I will soak some gizzards that I already have in these main ingredients and try them on one pole while trying other baits
on other poles as a comparison test.
