If I am using prepared baits, I use trebles, anything else its a circle. Of course lately I've been catching a bunch off 2x long shank snells I use for gills. Cats tear those hooks up.

Cant beat a circle hook id say, i use for other fish too, took a bit to get used to the idea of not slamming the rod to set the hook.

I normally use the J Hook to stick a small piece of hot dog on and slowly drag it along the bottom. I'm curious though, why circle hooks?

I flip between Circle & Khale. Use Chicken Liver (most often) Sits very well on the Khale Hooks in my opinion, esp. w/the panty hoes trick. Or elastic string.

Circle hooks for me. They are a little harder to bait up with some baits like nightcrawlers, but they seem to hold the bait better, keep fish on better, and make it easier for you to get the fish off the hook.

I use chicken liver for channels, and so I use an Eagle Claw Lazer red # *4 treble, or a # 2 size. They have done me well so far.
