Finally caught my first crappie, 14 inches! Was so excited, but when i got home and cut it open... PARASITES! Is this normal?? There were A LOT. Hoping it was a one time deal. I still haven't TASTED a crappie yet, and that wasn't gonna be my first lol

So it's pretty common, will they be in most of the crappie i catch?

Remove the worms and enjoy. It's totally normal is some waters at a certain time of year. Where was this caught?
Legg Lake in South El Monte

From what I see here, I'd say in 1/3-1/2 of them would be normal. Like Slabprowler said, if there are red spots in the fillets, it's one of the worms embedded in the muscle. Dig that red spot out. Once you get past the thoughts of it, there's nothing else to worry about.
