    Default Stockton fishing

New to the forum, just getting back into panfishing, will be scouting some of my old bass spots in the Delta for crappie soon, will report findings and conditions.

But, just wondering if there are any others here from Stockton.

Anyone near me here in the 209 area code?

My candle burns at both ends; it will not last the night. But ah my foes, and oh my friends - it gives a lovely light.

    Hi Alexander,

Welcome to Cali's crappie thread. I am located in Sacramento and a proud member of Crappie.com. I sport their logo all over my boat. I am an avid crappie fisherman and have been for the past 25 years. I do not claim to be an expert, I just love fishing crappies and eating them. I used to fish other species, but it gets expensive changing gears to target other fish and there is nothing more relaxing than jigging in the middle of the lake for crappies. I used to crappie fish in the Delta in marina’s and especially at White slough. However, it has been more than 10 years since I have launched a boat out there. I guess I just got tired of playing with the tide and chasing the crappies through the channels then getting lost.

I do mostly reservoir crappie fishing now. Near you, I enjoy Camanche, Pardee, New Hogan Lake, and New Melones. Amador is a joke, too expensive. Was just at Camanche early summer and caught a bunch of eatable crappies, see my other posts with pictures. Was at Hogan on 07/03 and only caught 2 15" plus crappies. Hogan is infested with striped bass which we also caught a bunch of while jigging for crappies in sunken trees near the dam. Too bad I do not like eating striped bass so all were released. There are decent size crappies in Hogan, but my guess is that the population is low due to the aggressive striped bass eating up the fry's.

Up north, I enjoy Lake Oroville, Black Butte, Stony George, East Park, and Berryessa. All have large crappies and an abundance of them. I now avoid Clear lake and Indian Valley Reservoir for personal political reasons.
Fall is around the corner, the crappies will be grouped up heavily chasing after shad or silverside minnows in Nor Cal. They will be fat and yummy to eat. I am looking to hit Black Butte before the end of the month. Just waiting for the right weather. Good luck with your fall fishing. Your backyard (Delta) will be full of them.
