Hello. I am fairly new to crappie fishing. Last April-June I was hitting the back end of a slough pretty religiously and was able to catch a few crappie every trip using curly tails, jigs, minnows, and grass shrimp. Early in the season I was catching them in fairly shallow water (3 ft.) and then later I was vertical jigging in around 8 ft of water. I now have access to an aluminum boat and I'd like to check out the lake for some crappie. Do any of you have any advice for targeting pre-spawn/spawning crappie at Lake Berryessa? Are there any general locations that they tend to gather up at? What coves should I check out? Not looking for direct coordinates to your holes just general areas that I can catch some papermouths lol. Lastly, what tactics should I use to catch fish in the coming months. Thanks guys.
Good luck
And with that, I'll see you on the water...
John
