    Default Fish Biology question!

Been getting DEP gills with eggs By any chance, does anyone think or know if these winter time gills in 40+ feet deep release eggs in open water?
The water temp i believe is about 58 deg's. I think they hit the shallows in April. Seems a little early for the development of any eggs.
    This is in lake Perris

Fish take months to form their eggs.

I have been catching Panfish in Perris as shallow as 22ft of water and they are loaded up with Eggs .. make sure you are not keeping Panfish over 8" right now and expecially throw back the males ! Perris is a Great panfish lake and with these blue bird skies and 80+ degree days , the water temps will continue to rise and you will see pre spawn staging shortly this year as early as February if the weather stays put.

I Think I killed the spawn because i did keep fish over 8", and I was in the spawning area last weekend before the weather turned bad and There Was Not A Single crappie gill or red ear in the area. I even fished initial and secondary drops in hopes of some stagers, but NOTHING!
Lots and lots of Bass were up in the shallows though!
