as long as it's not in the bilge/water, should be fine
I am trying to run a 8/2 wire from the console to the bow for a new trolling motor. I can't get the fish tape thru due to all the foam, however if i run the wire in the "V rib" channel it is a clear path from the bow to the console. Is is ok to have the wire laying in the V rib channel directly on the hull, or do I need to keep the wire off the floor? The boat is a 2008 G3 DLX

I would put that wire in some type of loom/wire protector, but other than that, yeah you would be fine.
The loom would be a great idea. It would add some abrasion resistance to the wire and help it last longer.

I would use something along the lines of this. wrapping it to show as little wire as I could.

I used it to run the wires along the sides of my boat behind the ribs of a Mod V 1860. The quality of the stuff in the link is decent, not as thick as the stuff we use on helicopters at work but I'm satisfied with it for my boat. I also used it to wrap the cable for my livescope transducer.

The easy way to do it is to push a flexible pipe (pvc, cpvc, pex, etc.) through that V. It'll take like 20 seconds.
