Having a brain fart. The transom and stringers are glued in with epoxy. I'm prepping, in hopes of glassing in the transom and stringers tomorrow.
Would you use epoxy, or polyester resin?

Today i had planned on cutting out the 1708, and get started on installing it. Other things happened this morning, Happy wife, happy life!!!!
NOT blaming her, cutting out the 1708 took A LOT longer than i thought. 4 layers for transom, two layers for the stringers, some pieces to tie in the knee braces.
Before i knew it, the sun was setting, thus losing heat. I didn't want to start wetting out material with it cooling down. I did epoxy in the knee braces, this afternoon.

Got two layers of 1708 on the transom, only one layer on one side of one stringer.
Hopefully tomorrow goes better.
Is four layers on the transom - Overkill? Not enough?

I have no idea on the amount of fiberglass needed but that's looking great.

Right wrong or otherwise, the transom now has 4 layers of 1708 on the inside, the stringers have two layers in the inside. Need to get a layer or two on the outside of the stringers.
The epoxy gods where smiling on me, I had about a two ounces left over.
I had also put two layers of fiberglass on the transom, before installing the two laminated 3/4" pieces of marine grade plywood.
Hopefully, with the additional knee braces (which weren't there before), it will be strong enough, even with the air pockets I couldn't get out. And some I flat out missed!

Something I forgot about, till today. Did a test fit of the top cap. I had wanted the new transom thicker than the old one. I accomplished that ! This is what I forgot about.
I had originally planned on either -
- cutting the splashwell out, making it flat.
- cutting the back of the top cap area, where the top engine bolts are and move it forward, enough too accommodate the thicker transom.
Above picture, the blue lines would be the new flat area, doing away with the splashwell.

Red circled area, the "wall" that would need to be moved forward. In order to keep the splashwell. There are also two drain holes, on either side of the splashwell. That would need to be moved.

What's the purpose of removing that back wall?
The new transom is thicker than the old one. The back wall is not allowing the top cap to sit down all the way on the hull.
