You either have a weak battery or not a big enough group size battery ...... I would use Group 31 batterys.... and I would put a timer on the live well, no need for it to run continous.
Hello everyone
Got a question for you guys.
I run ranger z22 with a Yamaha 300hdpi with a helix 12 up front and helix mega 10 at console. I have a 4 bank charger and am having trouble running electronics and live wells on one battery am ready to upgrade batteries and wanted to know what you guys think I should get and what would get thru a full day of fishin. Also would u run electronics on separate battery with live well going to starting battery?
thanks

I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

If you have a Sam’s close by, they sell a Duracell AGM group 31 with 1000MCA which is what you need for cranking that big motor. They have cheapest price I have found for that battery. Then add a group 24 deep cycle for accessories.

Should be a date code stamped on the top of the batteries.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but ....
I'm thinking the two 24's are hooked in parallel to provide the necessary 1000CCA for the big motor, and all the accessories are running off them, too.
My next question would be : what exactly is happening that you feel the need to "upgrade" batteries ??
Also ... I would hope that your 4bank charger has 10amps per bank, so as to charge the batteries fast/hard enough to knock off the lead plate sulfation.
Interstate makes a group 24 with 1000 cranking amps. The dealer rigged my last boat with one when new and I constantly had issues with running low/out of power. I moved up to a group 27 flooded cell Deka and had no issues. Eventually went with the Duracell grp31 AGM from Sams Club for a cranking/electronics battery after seeing tons of positive reviews and Sams running a killer sale on them. Same battery is going strong with a different owner.

While I can't comment on the size, however I do recommend Deka batteries. They are made by East Penn. They make the batteries for Bass Pro, auto zone etc..... but places like Tractor Supply and Orschelins sell the straight Deka branded ones for cheaper.

I run a series 27 for my electronics and a series 24 cranking battery for my Suzuki 140 and accessories. The crank battery gets charged when the engine is running but it is amazing how much the big screen electronics will drain batteries. My 3 trolling motor batteries are Trojan 1275 golf cart batteries.
