    If you leave a charger on the batteries full time, you should have a good quality "smart charger", otherwise you run the risk of overcharging your batteries. Maintenance (trickle) chargers should also be "smart chargers", such as Battery Tender chargers.

    Use the setting for the type of battery you have. It should tell you on the battery if it's a AGM or gel (and be "sealed"), whereas a "standard" (wet cell) battery will usually have fill caps.

    If you're still not sure ... give us the info from the top of the battery and we can determine which charge setting is needed.

    They say you shouldn't charge lithium batteries below freezing. I've accidently left my chargers hooked up though. Most good lithiums have cold and hot shut off circuits.
