Keep a journal and log everything you can think about. Then log what worked and what didn’t.
If you were to give one piece of advice to a new crappie angler what would it be?

Fishing from bank or boat? Wife and I have had no luck fishing from shore for Crappie.
Just keep trying.

From the bank night fishing has always been best for me. A source of light over the water helps. A Coleman lantern works well for me. Fishing a jig under a float is a very good way to find and catch fish in the spring.
The love for fishing is one of the best gifts you can pass alongfunfishers thanked you for this post

You catching them , carry on . If not go smaller jig, smaller line, and slow down . Double color/ bright jigs in stained to muddy water . Natural colors (blues, white, browns, greens ) in clear water . Exception ? Chartreuse any where . Never leave home without Purple/ chartreuse. lol
