I use the 12' crappie maxx rods to push and pull crank baits. They can handle a 2oz weight with no problem. b&m is coming out with a new rod if not all ready out. Get in touch with Monk's crappie get him to tell you bout them

The HT & Limit poles may be OK for beginning Spider Rigging ... but, I'm not sure they aren't a bit too "soft" for Pushing/Pulling cranks.

I Push jigs a lot, and sometimes cranks ... I have one BnM PST 14' rod and two 14' Capps & Coleman (BnM) rods, and with 1/2oz of weight the difference in the amount of bend between the two models is insignificant .... but, put on 1.5oz of weight and there's a big difference. Capps/Coleman rods are basically meant for Spider Rigging, which is why they have the softer tip. PST's (ProStaff Trolling) are better for pushing with heavier weights ... but either will work. You can Spider Rig with PST's, but you may not see the lighter bites at times.

And if you're going to do both with the same rods ... you might as well go ahead and buy line counter reels for them. You won't pay much more for them than you would for a low end baitcast reel with a thumbar, but you will be able to let out exactly however much line you need ... and not have to measure the line (again) after each retrieval.

You might also keep your eyes on the Personal Classifieds, as there are long rods & various reels (new & used) being sold on there, quite often.

Spend the extra money first time. Get you a set of 14 ft 143t's from southern crappie rods. Spider rig very well and can push 3 oz weight just fine. Great quality and much cheaper than other brands.

I have some PST rods and have broke more tips than I want to talk about. I also have four 16 foot Crappie maxx rods they are the best in my opinion. I am getting ready to buy two 12" two 14' crappie maxx rods from Monk's Crappie.

I have 12' high tech I use to spider rig. So far they are good. wish I had 14's but overall the rods work fine. I don't run cranks so can't offer anything there. I got mine form Grizzly jig, the reels that came with were junk, had to replace

I would recommend the southern crappie rods in the 143T. They are supper tough rods and still sensitive enough for spider rigging!
